“PRISM” is an immersive instrument that harnesses both natural and artificial light to create an ever-changing interplay of colours and spatial perception. The site-specific installation takes cues from the power of pure forms, in this case the truncated pyramid. Such forms when combined with a purposeful use of light triggers a deep emotional phenomenological reaction. Each pyramid has a dynamic and translucent coloured surface that transforms from a light shaft during the day and into a glowing beacon when dark using interactive artificial lighting. The stereotomic shapes of these pyramids are then combined into a three-dimensional geometry, allowing viewers to experience the complex yet calming world of chromotherapy where time, emotions and hues collide. Accompanying the artwork is an otherworldly soundscape composed by Malaysian sound artist and musician, Shelhiel.
The artwork was part of i Light Festival 2023 from 1-25 June at Millenia Walk, Singapore.
